President Gordon B. Hinkley died Sunday January 27, 2008. Sunday night at about 8:30 pm Dave recieved a text from his friend Dan. The message said that our prophet had died. I turned on the news for confirmation of this message and somewhere between reports of heavy rainfall and next weeks forcast was a brief note that Gordon B. Hinkley had passed away. This was a time when I really missed home, because I knew that in Salt Lake City President Hinkley's death would have been the headline and the topic of conversation. Members of our faith would have come together to remember this great man. Sunday night as I said my prayers and thought of our beloved prophet I imagined the great reunion and celebration it would have been for President Hinkley as he passed on to the next life. He was again united with his wife whom he loved and missed so much.
Dave loves to watch Glen Beck, who does a talk show on CNN. Glen Beck is a memeber of the Church of Jesus Christ and shared his personal feelings of the death of President Hinkley. You can view his thoughts of Glen Beck's website http://www.glennbeck.com/content/articles/article/200/5127/
I will miss President Hinkley, he had a wonderful sense of humor. I never saw him speak at a conference or in an interview that I did not laugh or go away smiling. I imagine him hearing the words "well done! my good and faithful servant". He was truly a man of God. Thank you President Hinkley for your life and your example.
