Mr. Independent

Taten is Mr. Independent. He cracks me up sometimes how "grown up" he is. He usually starts the day telling me what he wants to do and giving me orders. I think I am doing a decent job keeping him entertained...you know...I let him play in the bath for an hour every morning till his fingers and toes are pruned, I run around in circles flying airplanes with him in his room. I take him to the store for a treat and to ride in the shopping cart shaped like a car. Then I sit him down in front of "his show" so I can have some mommy time to do what I want. This is usually the time of day that Taten is having Taten time and doing what he wants-not watching his show. Today he comes to me with an empty bag and tells me "Mom big mess" "Taten did you dump out the fruit loops?" Yeah mom. Big mess, come help" I come into our den and find the floor covered with fruit loops but Taten has also gotten out the vacuum, unraveled the cord and attempted to plug it in, clearly trying to clean up the mess on his own. I love this kid, he always wants to help. He often helps himself to his own snacks too. Today I found him with an orange and a knife on my leather sofa, he had cut the orange in half and was trying to dig out the segments with his fingers. Ahhh! Now if I could just get this kid potty trained I could send him off to college.

Winter Storm Warning! 8-12 inches of snow

Winter Storm Warning! 8-12 inches in 24 hours. Storm Warning Yes! 8-12 inches I dont think so. By the way church is cancelled for tomorrow.

Found something to do in this little town.

We have a children's museum. Hurray! It has been an adjustment moving back to a cold weather climate. We are tired of being inside, but we found something to do. I was hoping there would be other children for Taten to play with but we usually free reign of the place. His favorite thing to do is play with the fishing poles and fish. However he keeps putting the laminated paper fish in the water play area which is right next to the fake fishing pond. (is it me or was that idea not very well thought out?)
This town his known the floods that have happened here over the years. Literally thousands of people have lost their lives because of flooding. So a little history from the flood museum. The government came in and took over the Pepsi plant. These Pepsi cans are filled with water. Because of the flooding the people here did not have clean water to drink. I think these classic Pepsi cans are before my time.

Ryker 3 months

Ryker is three months old now. He has been a happy baby for a month. I feel like a new person. I actually get to sleep. Ryker is so mellow he just hangs out most of the time. He loves having his diaper changed and will smile and goo. He is ticklish around his belly and under his chin. He seems to love watching TV. He doesn't like tummy time much, but if he can get his fist in his mouth he will lay on his tummy all afternoon. Ryker weighs almost 14 lbs, he is chubby all over. At his 2 month Dr. visit he was in 75 percentile for height. 78th for weight.

Miracle medicine!Happy baby! Happy Mommy!

Ryker cried all the time for the first two months of his life. The second I would lay him down he would cry. he even cried most of the time when he was being held. Dave called him the Whiner! And if he wasn't crying this is his classic face- he is or was always scowling. A look I am fairly sure he inherited from me. During this first two months I slept very little and was sure I was on the verge of loosing my mind. But you know they have this miracle drug out there that changed my baby from a miserable crying baby to a happy cooing baby. It is called Axil (basically baby zantac) The doctor explained that what Ryker had was reflux and when I laid him down he was experiencing heart burn. (I had some pretty terrible heart burn while I was pregnant
and its painful) I am so grateful for modern medicine and that now I have a happy baby that sleeps and night. Happy baby. Happy mommy.

Merry Christmas!

Is it February already? Well here are a few pictures from Christmas. I don't know whether it was the move to PA, the cold snowy weather or the baby blues but I have sure had a hard time getting motivated to do much of anything...I know maybe a little bit to honest. But here are a few pictures from our Christmas. Taten helped me make cookies for Santa...Which Santa did not eat. But Taten seemed to have a lot of fun making them. We were invited to Dave's boss's house for Christmas Eve dinner. Which was fabulous. The kids decorated the cookies for Santa. Dave stayed up late helping Santa put together Taten's train table. But I think the favorite gift was Taten's BYU football uniform. Taten said "my game" "my game". I can't believe that Dave can fit a child sized helmet on his head. "Go Cougars!!"
