I love this smile!

Taten loves to have his picture taken.

Look! Taten Can Stand!

Taten learned to stand up all by himself today. Standing comes before walking right? He stood up several times before I ran to get the camera. I hoped that he would try again so I could catch it on tape. Hurray! Taten can stand! He will also walk short distances with one hand held but usually prefers to crawl. If you hold both hands he holds his legs straight out off the ground. He will not be forced to do anything he doesn't want to do. Does he sound like his dad? Speaking of Dad...Dave deserves the gold star award for Dads. Thur-Saturday of last week was day camp for the cub scouts. I am the wolf den leader and so was recruited to attend all three days. I thought day 1 would be the easiest for Dave since Taten would not realize how long I would be gone. I got home at 10:30 PM expecting to find Dave and Taten asleep. But Dave and Taten were stripped down to their underwear, the sheets had been taken off the bed, and the washing machine was going. Taten had thrown up 4 times in the hour before I got home. Dave was calm and collected and had everything under control. I felt so bad that they were still awake, since Dave had work early the next morning.

Happy Fathers Day!

In church on Sunday a cute couple talked about what a Father should be. Both the husband and the wife had grown up with Fathers who were not great examples. I sat there listening thinking to myself how blessed I was to have a wonderful Dad who loves my mom and honors his priesthood. I thought how greatful I am to have Dave as the father of my children and a knowledge that I have a Father in Heaven who loves me.
I hope Dave had a great fathers day. The day began with breakfast in bed.
I made one of Dave's favorite dinners with dessert and he recieved a very exciting array of books that he has been dying to read, not to mention a very stylish tie. I know that there was one more thing he wanted for fathers day and I promise he will get it when he least expects it. I love you Dave!!!

5 Things I love about my husband.

1. Dave loves me with all of his heart. He has never said an unkind word to me and takes it as personal insult if I say something negative about myself. Sometimes he tells me he loves me out of the blue and I'll start to question his intentions and he'll say I was just looking at you and thought how much I love you. He is my best friend and makes me a whole person.

2. Dave loves little children. It is one of the reasons I married him. He is like the baby whisperer, when It is impossible for me to get Taten to sleep I just hand him over to Dave (*on Saturday Dave had Taten to sleep, but Taten woke up when Dave put him in his crib). Dave says things like "it melts my heart" when Taten reaches for him. I can't wait until Taten says Dada.

3. Dave is very hard working. He provides for our little family. He believes in doing a job well. He has the ability to manage others and still be a friend. I often hear him on the phone with employees saying things like "buddy". He is optimistic and has goals for our future.

4. Dave loves his family. They are his best friends. He is so kind to his mom. I remember when Dave and I were dating, he would kiss his mom good bye. How cute is that.

5. Dave has great faith and a testimony of the gospel. I often think we don't pray enough as a family or Dave puts so much into his work. Then I hear Dave pray or give a talk and see him reading the ensign and realize how sensitive he really is to the spirit.

***Its really hard to stop at 5.

No longer safe in his high chair.

I hesitate to publish this post. Everyone will think that I am a space cadet of a mother and never watch Taten. Its not true though. I usually stay in the kitchen with Taten to make sure he doesn't choke or something. He has never even attempted to stand in his highchair before Saturday night. Taten refused to go to sleep so I decided to finish the laundry. I put Taten in his high chair with a snack and went to the laundry room to pull the clothes from the dryer. For those of you who have never been to my house, the door to my laundry room is to the right of my microwave. I walked out of the laundry room and was shocked to see where Taten was sitting. (luckily I had my camera in the kitchen for a photo op.) Taten must have a guardian angel, he could have fallen so easily.

Ready for swimming!!!

Taten loves to go swimming. Friday morning I got Taten ready to go to our weekly ward playgroup. Can you guess what we were doing? I put his stroller by the door with our swim bag and Taten's swim toy, then went to get myself ready. Of course I took Taten into my room so I could keep an eye on him while I put my swimsuit on. Honestly he crawls so fast... you only have to turn your head. I peeked in each room as I walked down the hall.... I should have known this is where I would find him. He was all ready to go swimming.

TATEN DAVID!!!

You really have to watch them. I sat down this morning to print 3 words off the computer... "Happy Fathers Day". I am working on fathers day cards! I sat Taten down by me in our bedroom with my container of stamping supplies. I thought to myself "is that really the best thing to let Taten play with?" The stamps were not the problem. Taten quickly lost interest and went crawling down the hall. I was planning to check on him in a second...I just needed to change the color of the font on the computer. I didn't even print the three little words as the card stock was sitting on the table out front...Where I found Taten sitting with an open container of chocolate ice cream that we finished last night. He had retrieved the closed container from the laundry room trash, taken it across the kitchen and to the far side of the dining room table,(on the carpet I just had cleaned 2 weeks ago). He had the lid removed and was consuming the remaining runny content. He was not only covered head to toe in chocolate but was surrounded by little chocolate hand prints. My first instinct was to take the sticky container away instead of moving Taten. Taten followed me with his sticky little hands and legs to the kitchen trailing the chocolate across the room. Before cleaning Taten, I decided to run to my room for a camera to capture the moment. He looks a little guilty here, but I assure you he felt no shame.

Happy 1st Birthday Taten!!!

Happy 1st Birthday Taten. We celebrated Taten's Birthday all weekend. Grandma Leigh and Papa Boyd came to visit on Friday and began spoiling Taten immediately. At first he was a little slow to warm up...but once Papa Boyd pulled out his iphone Taten couldn't get enough.
We celebrated Taten's birthday on Sunday. He was almost to tired to open his presents, but we had so much fun watching him. He particularly liked his birthday card and I had to put it away before Taten would open his presents.
The birthday song and wish.

Taten managed to demolish his cake. He wasn't quite sure what to do at first. But with a little encouragement he was up to his elbows in chocolate. Yum!
