Trip to the Zoo!

We love holidays! Especially when Dave is off work. We had so much fun visiting the zoo. We could not believe how crazy busy it was. But even though we had to park in the over over flow parking-we could still get up close to see the animals.
I thought we had some great photo opts., The Phx Zoo is so fun, I love the dirt trails that you can follow to see the animals.

Taten loved riding in his stroller and recieved as many oooos and ahhhs as any animal in the zoo. And why wouldn't he? He looks so cute in his hat and glasses. I am so glad we bought them. How many 81/2 month babies that you know keep a hat and glasses on?

Happy Birthday Dad! A trip to the plant.

Dave celebrated his 32nd birthday last week. We decided to visit him at work to celebrate. We had lunch in the break room. We went to Outback for dinner and Taten threw a fit the whole time. Usually he is so cute and fun to cart around with us.

Is it only me, or does everyone have a hard time buying gifts for their spouse? I am pretty good at shirts but Dave usually doesn't want anything. But if you know Dave you know he loves NASCAR and is a huge fan of Dale Jr. This is Jr. new car. Who knew that a grown man could be so happy with a toy car. I am so glad I found something Dave wouldn't expect. **A side note - if you look at the official website to buy this car it is $60-70. Yikes! We bought it at Target for only $28 (I still thought Yikes, but felt better after seeing the web price)

Music and Dance

Taten has recently started dancing to music. Just when your kid does something really cute and you want to get it on camera they don't seem to perform. But here is a short clip of Taten bouncing to the music. He usually gets the button himself, but this time I gave him a little help.

Oh No! My little paper eater.

Last night, I sat down with Taten to read his night time stories. And I discovered a corner missing from one our favorite books. No we do not have a dog. Just Taten, my little paper eater. If there is plastic or paper with in sight Taten is trying to eat it. Why did I not figure this out before I gave Taten a few books to entertain him while I took a short break in the Ladies. I just didn't figure he could eat a board book. A piece of paper or a shopping tag is one thing. But a book? I was a little affraid to tell Dave the story or show him the book because I knew he would just think I was irresponsible. All he said is it is no wonder Taten is constipated.

Valentines Dinner

Our romantic valentines dinner? I needed a practice run for Enrichment next week. So instead of the steak my husband would have loved we had a Citrus chicken salad and a skinny cow sunday. The menu for next weeks enrichment. Dave picked all the peas out of the Salad but said he loved it.
I think that it looks lovely, but I didn't love it so I will be making a few adjustments...so it will be the yummiest salad ever! Hopefully. . . Maybe.
The skinny cow sunday was yummy and only 100 calories, plus the 100 calories in the whipped topping.

My dirty little secret

I wish I had a basement. For anyone who knows me. . .I just don't love cluter. I like things tucked away where I can't see them and I am just running out of space. I keep accumulating items for scouts and the upcoming enrichment night and my guest room is some what of a disaster area. I like to keep the door closed. Please notice the beautiful flowers to the right of the photo. A gift from my neighbors. My neighbors are moving and although we only ever saw them 2 or 3 days out of the year they will be missed. Mark and Susanne we really like you. Thanks for being good neighbors.
I love living in AZ but let me repeat I wish we had a basement. I am the den leader for the wolf den in cub scouts and next month's theme is litter to glitter. So I have been collecting my recyclables. Today makes a week of this collection and I already have 2 big garbage bags of water bottles, plastics and boxes. I must have needed to learn a lesson about garbage and I will start to recycle today-Sorry for my irresponsibility. Starting with scouts we are going to play games and make art out of garbage. I am sure the boys will love it, I can't wait to see what they come up with.

Happy Valentines Day! This is the darling card I gave my husband. Yes I made it! Thanks to Kris Massey's card making class and her cute card that I copied. Yes I am a copy cat! But Dave loved his card. I have a wonderful husband and I love him so much! Valentines Day is a great day to tell the ones you love that you love them. That includes friends and family too and not just our lovers.
I recieved a thank you card yesterday saying that I was in the persons life for a reason and she was thankful for that. Thanks Amy for the warm fuzzy. Sometimes I forget that God brings people into our lives to bless us and I need to reach out more than I do. Thank you to all my friends who have reached out to me and shown me kindness when I have been reluctant to reach out myself. You are all loved and appreciated so much. Thank you!

Weekly Trip to the Movies

Taten is a fantastic little buddy. We go to the movies almost every week. Usually if we catch a mid week matine we are the only ones in the theatre. Yesterday we saw Definately, Maybe. Yes I cried. Sometimes Life and Love is not easy but this dad Definately loves his little girl. Lots of sexual reference in the movie. Mom you wont like it. As we walked out of the movie one little grandma commented to me that it was a good thing Taten was too little to understand.

Old Navy Find

We were out shopping the other day and ran into Old Navy (they were having a 40% off sale on baby and toddler clothing). We bought Taten a hat and swim suit. I tried to get him to wear the hat the day that we bought it but every time I put it on his head he would reach up and throw it off. We tried again with the hat today and he kept in on all day. Doesn't he look so stinking cute?

We Voted!

We Voted on Super Tuesday! Taten even got a sticker. Taten must be super cute because I am always hearing people comment on him. Is this just what it is like when you have kids? Everyone just wants to make faces at Taten. He loves people and is always quick to smile and if someone is not looking he eyes them and bounces up and down until they do look at him. As we walked out of the polls I heard one lady comment as she passed "they do let the little ones vote"In case anyone wants to know, I voted for Mitt. I am somewhat disappointed that he pulled out of the race.

Help in the Kitchen

Taten helped me make cookies the other day. Or rather he helped make a big mess. At least I know that he doesn't mind getting his hands dirty. I was dying for a treat and so I attempted to let Taten play in the other room while I mixed up a quick batch of double chocolate chip cookies. I say attempt because Taten has learned this new behavior-cry as hard as I can while mom is out of sight. Making cookies is a two handed job so I sat Taten on the counter so I could use both my hands and he dug right in. As you can see . . .a two handed job. The fun stopped when Taten decided he might want to taste his hands. Not quite ready for chocolate.
